The Style
The Kenya Tunic has a round neckline with a plunging V down to a point that’s not too low. The side splits make this Tunic loose fitting without being large, so it’s comfortable to wear, especially when sitting. This pattern includes 3 different sleeve types to give you options and allow you to create the Tunic in the style that you prefer.
Style: Smart casual but not too formal. The Kenya is very much a pop-on-and-go garment – no need to layer, it’s great just on its own.

Fabric Suggestions
You have lots of choice with this style. A cotton lawn, cool linen, silk dupion, chiffon or georgette, as long as it’s not too heavy and nice and cool you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Prints would be amazing in this style. Bright colours, gold touches of lurex or just go for a plain and jazz it up by embellishing around the neck with a bit of bling!
Adaptations
We have included three sleeve options with this style. Sleeve 1: A ¾ length sleeve that you can bunch up to a half sleeve with a tab and button. Sleeve 2: A ¾ length gathered sleeve that you can either bind or elasticate, Style 3: A short sleeve with a simple double turned hem.
You can be really experimental with this Tunic and decide the look you’re going for. Give it an Asian influence if you choose. A choice of sleeves allows you to create three different garments from one pattern.
Skill Level
The Tunic is aimed at an intermediate sewer. There’s nothing too tricky here though if you’ve made a garment or two before and your confidence is building. No zips. Just a button and buttonhole on each sleeve (if you go for that version) or gathering on another version. You can choose which sleeve you’re most comfortable making. The stitching around the neck facing can take a little skill, especially in slippery fabrics but if you prefer you can leave it off all together and make it a bit easier on yourself.
Trims
45cm of 90cm wide fusible lightweight interfacing. Vilene H180 is a perfect weight.
